Is the Li Auto L9 the best 6-seater family SUV in 2026?

Li Auto pioneered the premium EREV (extended-range EV) format in China and the L9 is its flagship. It's the answer to 'I want an EV but I can't charge at home.'
How the EREV powertrain works
The L9 has a 44.5 kWh battery + 152 kW electric drive motors + a 1.5 T petrol engine that acts only as a generator (no direct drive to wheels). All propulsion is electric; the engine tops up the battery when needed.
Pure EV range: ~215 km WLTP. Total range with petrol: 1,315 km. You can drive it as a full EV for daily commuting and never plug in on trips.
The interior arms race
Six captain's chairs, three of them powered and heated/cooled. Two ceiling screens for rear passengers. 21-speaker audio. Rear-seat refrigerator. Fold-down tables. It is the closest thing to a business-class cabin in an SUV under €80k.
The catch
Export availability is limited. Confirmed markets: UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Norway (2026 launch). Germany and Nordics rumoured for 2027.
EREV is disallowed under some corporate ZEV policies — check before ordering as a company car.
